Do I need internet for AirDesk to work? ▾
No! AirDesk works 100% offline. Both your PC and phone only need to be connected to the same local router or your phone's mobile hotspot. No data is sent over the internet.
Is it completely free? ▾
Yes! AirDesk is a student-built open-source project licensed under Creative Commons CC BY-NC 4.0. It is 100% free for everyone, forever.
What if Windows Firewall shows a prompt? ▾
Simply click "Allow Access" on Private Networks. This permits the Companion app to receive input signals sent from your phone over your local Wi-Fi router on port 9876.
Do I need to install drivers to play PC games? ▾
For everyday PC use and casual gaming, NO drivers are needed — AirDesk automatically maps your gamepad buttons to PC keyboard controls (WASD, Space, Shift).

However, if you play games that strictly require a genuine Xbox controller (like FIFA, Forza, Rocket League, or Steam/Xbox Game Pass titles), you can install the free, 1-click ViGEmBus Driver (Direct Download). Windows will then detect your phone as a genuine physical Xbox 360 controller with rumble feedback!
